Good Value for the Money November 12, 2008 TRV Positives: Four months of use in the wind and rain and this umbrella has worked perfectly. Easy to open and close. Sturdy design - it's held up in 40+ mph wind gusts. Good classic look (my umbrella does not have the large logo that some others apparently to contain). Negatives: The umbrella's wood handle is satisfactory. From an aesthetics standpoint, a higher grade of wood would really improve this umbrella's looks and would result in a five star rating from me. Summary: This is a good looking and very functional umbrella. On a personal note, I'm a big guy and this size umbrella works well for me. However, it's a little small for me and a second person. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.
cheap construction September 10, 2008 GHS (SF Bay Area, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased one last winter. The design worked very well in high wind conditions. That was until one day I opened it and the thing virtually exploded on me! All the stays are held in place at the top with a flimsy twisted bit of wire. When manufactured there was probably one twist too many. All the tension provided by the spring action proved to be too much and blam! Ended up with a useless tangle of nylon material and bent aluminum. As I mentioned, the umbrella worked extremely well for the few weeks before it died, I'm just reluctant to purchase a replacement unless assured that the quality of construction has improved.
Kept me and my puppy dry September 8, 2008 D.Lo (Boston, MA) Basically needed an umbrella that would cover both myself and my puppy during rainstorms. Did the trick! Haven't been subject to gail-force winds yet, but it seems like it would hold up well given the venting. Also, one of the reviews I read was exactly right. When you first get the umbrella it doesn't open up all the way, which makes you think it is broken. After a day of use it fully extended, and stayed extended every time. I like it.
Very nice umbrella August 28, 2008 Shane B. Bauer (Madison, WI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great buy. I like the classic styling/wooden hook handle. The "large logo" another reveiewer referred to is in fact a small little "GustBuster" logo on one of the two velcro straps that contain the closed umbrella around the post. Which really sums it up - there are TWO tabs (not one, like most) holding the closed umbrella aroudn the WOODEN post. Very nice.
GustBuster Metro 48-Inch Folding Umbrella June 21, 2008 C. PICKERING (Chicago, IL United States) I love my new umbrella. I need an umbrella with a handle that could handle the windy city of Chicago. I've had to close other umbrellas and wait for the rain to pass in fair of the wind turning them inside out. No worries with my new umbrella.
